About
The Board Room Game Cafe calls itself Halifax's first board game cafe, and the first of its kind in the Maritimes. It sits on the lower level of 1256 Barrington Street, with a library of more than 600 games, a barista bar, local craft taps and a game shop.
There is something on most nights: TTRPG Tuesday, Board Games and Bevvies on Thursdays, Family Game Day on Sundays when kids under 14 play free, plus trivia, puzzle competitions and student nights through the month.
The cafe is licensed, and minors are welcome any time with a chaperone. There is elevator access through The Thompson Building, braille games on request, and free admission for support workers.
“had my first experience at a board game cafe here, and i was not disappointed! ... we had such a blast, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced.”
